Fertig (West Berlin 1988)

Scents tie us to memories. Of all our senses smell is probably the most fleeting. Cities have individual flavours and West Berlin in the 80s certainly had an exciting odour. Hues of grey with hints of danger.

All of this changed with the re-unification building boom in the 90s. The cityscape was altered dramatically and the “Wind Of Change” brought in a more commercial aroma. There is always a price for trading improvement for progress.

“Fertig” translates as finished, done, completed, ruined, but also ready.
