In central Bhutan I visited a large monastery poised on a river in this mountainous country. Whilst slandering through a series of beautiful courtyards I discovered a tall ladder leading to a room high up in one of the courtyard buildings, which supposed to be only used by Buddhist monks. I stepped up slowly the steep ladder expecting any disagreement by the monks passing the yard but nobody opposed my action. 2 monks talking to each other spotted me and gave me a hand sign inviting me into this entrance chamber. I entered the room quietly realizing that the entire walls were cladded with artistically painted canvas depicting the principles of Buddhism. I searched for a position to photograph this fascinating and holy space together with one of the monks leaning relaxed against the timber carved column who provided the perfect focus point of this magical scene.
